Before you can begin using your card, you must get your PIN in the app or online banking.

In Landsbankinn’s app, tap the PIN of the relevant card. In online banking, open My Page, click the menu button for the relevant card and select Get PIN.

Your card number, validity period and CVV code will be available in the app as soon as your card has been issued. You can also register the card to Apple Pay or the card app and begin using it.

You can always find the PIN in the app or online banking.

In Landsbankinn's app, tap the PIN of the relevant card. In online banking, open My Page, select the menu button for the relevant card and then Get PIN.

Your PIN is used to confirm payments made with the Bank’s payment cards, so it must be safeguarded. Transactions under ISK 7,500 do not require a PIN.

Use a password, fingerprint or face ID to open your phone or watch. This replaces your PIN when you pay with your phone or watch.

To unlock a PIN, visit an ATM. Make sure you have the correct PIN.

Debit cards - Landsbankinn ATMs can unlock PINs for debit cards. If you’re not in Iceland, you need to withdraw cash to unlock a PIN. It’s good to withdraw around ISK 10,000.

Credit cards - To unlock the PIN of a credit card in an ATM, you need to make a cash withdrawal. In Iceland, any amount will do the trick, but if you’re abroad, it’s good to withdraw around ISK 10,000.

Strong customer authentication (SCA) is a second layer of security in addition to your card number and CVC/CCV to ensure that it is actually the card holder who is using the card.

SCA can be in the form of electronic ID, biometrics through Landsbankinn’s app or a texted security code. The Bank determines which authentication channel to use with cards. If you experience any issues, please contact us.

It’s important to begin by opening the app and either freeze the card or activate security settings. This will allow you to keep using the card with solutions like Apple Pay and Google pay while preventing use of the physical card.

If you find your card, and it has been safe the entire time, you can change the security settings back in the app.

If your card is not found, you can close it and order a replacement in the app. You’ll get a new card number but most subscriptions will remain unchanged and the card will be updated in your phone, if it was registered there. 

Go to “Cards”, select the right card and then the three dots. From there, select “Security, notifications and closure”. You will be taken through the necessary steps from there.

If the card holder or company notices an unusual card transaction or has already used the card to pay for a product or service that has not been delivered, it is important to contact the merchant or report it as soon as possible.

If the merchant is unable to correct the transaction, the card holder may make a chargeback claim by logging into the chargeback website with their electronic ID and selecting the card in question.

You can view your Aukakrónur in Landsbankinn's app, either on the main page or by opening Cards and selecting the A logo in the lower right corner of the menu.

In online banking, Aukakrónur appear on the main page and under Credit cards -> Aukakrónur.

The 24-hour withdrawal limit depends on the type of card. ATM owners may also impose their own limit which may be lower than ours.

Withdrawals from ATMs overseas are based on Landsbankinn's exchange rate for Visa cards and are subject to each country’s particular rules.

Note! Three-hour intervals are required between ATM withdrawals overseas.
