As of 8 September 2025, the close of business on banking days for the deposit systems of the Icelandic Banks’ Data Centre (RB) will be set back from 21:00 to 24:00. This means that transactions such as transfers, carried out between 21:00 and 24:00, will be registered on the same day.
Banking days refers to working days and transactions carried out on holidays will continue to be registered on the next banking day.
The announcement from RB states that the goal of the change is to align operations even more closely with modern business practices by setting close of business on banking days to accord with the calendar in order to support flexible opening hours and continuous service.
The change will benefit the public, companies and institutions that depend on quick and reliable banking service in the evening.
We encourage our customers and partners to familiarise themselves with the impact of the change on their business and to contact us for any further information.
