Applications for Landsbankinn scholarships are now open. The Bank has supported promising students with financial grants for 36 years. This year it was decided to raise the total amount of scholarships granted by ISK 2 million, bringing the total amount of scholarships to be awarded this year to ISK 10 million.
Scholarships are awarded in four categories: upper secondary school, undergraduate university study, graduate study and artistic study. The scholarships are available both for study in Iceland and abroad.
The panel of judges seeks to select ambitious, exceptional students with an interesting vision who are likely, in the opinion of the panel, to enrich Icelandic society in the long term. Other factors taken into consideration include voluntary service, participation in sports and in social activities.
Landsbankinn emphasises being a positive and dynamic force throughout Iceland. To achieve this, we look to supporting entrepreneurs, sports, culture and the arts, in addition to sustainability initiatives, charities and education.
Sara Pálsdóttir, Managing Director of Communication & Culture at Landsbankinn: “Landsbankinn continues to support promising young students and helping them to focus on their studies. We consider the scholarships an investment in the future for society as a whole. We received numerous excellent applications last year and we hope to see at least as many this year. It is great to see how many dynamic and talented young people there are who have the ambition to strive for success.”
The deadline to apply for 2026 is up to and including 23 March. Landsbankinn encourages all students to read more about the scholarships and to apply.
