Viggó Ás­geirs­son to Lands­bank­inn

Viggó Ásgeirsson, Managing Director and one of the founders of Meniga, has been hired as Head of Business Development in Landsbankinn’s Personal Banking division.

Viggó co-established fintech company Meniga and has for the past 12 years worked there as Managing Director of Marketing, Human Resources and Operation. He was previously Head of Marketing and Web Services at Landsbankinn for six years and Head of the Web Department at Búnaðarbankinn for three years prior to that. Viggó holds an MBA from Reykjavik University and a BA in history from the University of Iceland.

Business Development analyses and leads new and transformative initiatives in the Bank’s service channels, from the app and online banking to branches or other avenues. The department also leads development of innovative products in retail banking to ensure that the Bank’s services continue to develop, contributing to its customers’ successes and making life simpler.

Landsbankinn changes interest rates

Following the interest rate decision, variable interest rates on non-indexed housing mortgages increase by 0.50 percentage points (pp), to 8.00%. Interest on savings accounts created in the app (Save in App) increase by 0.50 pp, to 6.00%.

Information for customers about ruling on terms of consumer loans

On Tuesday, 7 February 2023, the Reykjavík District Court ruled in a case concerning the terms that applied to interest rate changes in consumer loans from Landsbankinn. Following the adoption of a new Act on Consumer Loans in 2013, amendments were made to the terms and consumer loans taken out with Landsbankinn after that do not fall under the scope of the ruling.
