Lands­bankinn changes in­terest rates

Landsbankinn changes deposit and lending rates. Changes to fixed rates on new housing mortgages enter into effect Friday 22 May 2026. Other interest rate changes take effect Thursday 28 May 2026, with the exceptions listed below. The main changes are:

Interest rates on housing mortgage

  • Variable interest rates on non-indexed housing mortgages increase by 0.25 percentage points (pp).
  • 12-month fixed interest rates on new non-indexed housing mortgages increase by 0.25 pp.
  • 36-month fixed interest rates on new non-indexed housing mortgages increase by 0.20 pp.
  • 60-month fixed interest rates on non-indexed housing mortgages increase by 0.15 pp.
  • Fixed rates on new inflation-indexed housing mortgages decrease by 0.15 pp.

Other lending rates

  • Prime interest rates on non-indexed loans increase by 0.25 pp.
  • Overdraft rates increase by 0.25 pp.

Deposit rates

  • Interest rates on savings accounts in the app increase by 0.25 pp.
  • Interest rates on other non-indexed savings accounts increase by up to 0.25 pp
  • Interest rates on non-indexed fixed-rate accounts increase by up to 0.25 pp.
  • Interest rates on foreign currency accounts are based on the interest rate of the currency of denomination.

These changes follow the decision of the Central Bank of Iceland on 20 May, when the CBI raised its key interest rate by 0.25 pp.

Changes to interest on loans governed by the Act on Consumer Loans or the Act on Mortgage Lending to Consumers enter into effect in accordance with notifications sent to customers in online banking. Changes to interest on payment accounts governed by the Act on Payment Services enter into effect with two months’ notice in accordance with the terms and conditions for such accounts.
