Ísland.is never used for logging in to the app or online banking

28 May 2024

We would like to warn you of fraudulent messages sent in the name of Ísland.is for the purpose of collecting personal information and accessing online banking for individuals. Please note that Ísland.is is never used to log in to Landsbankinn's app or online banking.

Ísland.is has issued a warning about internet scams where people are asked to use their electronic IDs to log in to online banking. No bank uses Ísland.is to log in.

Landsbankinn never sends messages containing a link to login pages for online banking or the app. If you receive a message containing a link to a login page for the app or online banking, this is a scam. Always use the mobile banking app or enter www.landsbankinn.is and log in securely if you need to access your online banking.

We also reiterate the importance of looking closely at the sender of the message (from which phone number/email address it is sent) and to not accept login using electronic ID unless you are certain that you requested it. The most important thing is to read the message that appears in your electronic ID notification to make sure what authentication is taking place.
