Branches closed because of Women's Strike 24 October

Reykjastræti
22 October 2025

Landsbankinn's branches will be closed on Friday 24 October because of the Women’s Strike. The Customer Service Centre will be open but service can be expected to be slower than usual.

Landsbankinn puts a premium on equality and diversity. We have worked systematically to ensure equal terms and to create a workplace where all employees are respected and have the same opportunities. Our aim is to have a positive impact on society and promote future welfare. This is the Women’s Year and we have taken the opportunity to sharpen our focus by:

  • Supporting UM Women 2025
  • Revise the Bank’s equality policy and lift it into our HR policy
  • Offer more education and information about equality and diversity
  • Curate and host an exhibition of female artists on Reykjavík Culture Night and expand our gallery website with a dedicated women’s page

Numerous societies and associations have come together to organise the Women’s Strike on 24 October 2025. Women and non-binary people are encouraged to walk out as was done so memorably during the first women’s strike in 1975.

As the majority of our front-line team are women, our branches will be closed on Friday. Our Customer Service Centre will be lower staffed than usual. You can contact us by phone to +354 410 4000, over the web chat or by email.

Remember that almost all banking business can be tended to in the app and online banking.
