University students Salvador Di Marzio Láruson and Oliwia Slodowska are the recipients of grants from Landsbankinn’s Hvatasjóður fund for undergraduate studies at Reykjavík University (RU) 2027-2028.
The fund supports non-native Icelandic speakers who have completed upper secondary school education and achieved good results. Grant recipients are selected based on academic achievement, diversity and participation in other activities, such as sports, recreational activities and volunteer work. The grant is in the form of exemption from tuition fees at RU the first year of undergraduate study.
The partnership of Landsbankinn and RU along with allocation of grants from Hvatasjóðurinn began in 2023. Grants are awarded annually. The aim of the fund is to level the playing field for access to RU.
Grants from Hvatasjóðurinn were awarded at a formal ceremony on 27 August at RU, with Sigríður Guðmundsdóttir, HR Manager at Landsbankinn, presenting the grants alongside dr. Bryndís Björk Ásgeirsdóttir, Vice President of Education, Students and Sustainability at RU. Dr. Ragnhildur Helgadóttir, President of RU, opened the ceremony.
We congratulate Salvador and Oliwia on this achievement and wish them every success in the future!
