We’ve made changes to the confirmation of partial payment to credit cards. The changes are part of action we’re taking to increase security in the payment confirmation process and involve replacing security numbers with strong customer authentication (SCA).
- When you use online banking to make a partial payment to a credit card that is not registered to you, you’ll need to confirm the payment using SCA instead of a security number. SCA refers to authentication with electronic ID or the Auðkenni app.
- When you use online banking to make a partial payment to your own credit card, neither SCA nor a security number is required. This is because you’ve already logged in to online banking using SCA. As a result, the security requirements are less stringent for transfers to own credit cards or bank accounts.
We’d also like to make you aware that similar changes will soon be made to domestic and international payments, both in the app and online banking. In addition to SCA with electronic ID and the Auðkenni app, you’ll also be able to use biometrics.
