Lands­bankinn in Ísafjörður moves to Hafn­arstræti 19

Landsbankinn has operated in Ísafjörður since 1904, for the longest period out of its building at Pólgata 1, taken into use in 1958. That building is 830 m² and too spacious for the Bank’s purposes. The building at Pólgata 1 is based on drawings by Guðjón Samúelsson, a State Architect of Iceland, and its architect was Bárður Ísleifsson. The building was put up for sale in December 2020. While the Bank has accepted an offer on the house, a purchase contract has not yet been signed.
