On Friday, Statistics Iceland releases CPI numbers for February. We expect a 0.8% increase between months and inflation to increase from 5.7% to 5.8%.
Last week’s highlights
- The housing price index for the capital region increased by 1.7% MoM in December, bringing the YoY increase to 20.3%.
- Domestic payment card turnover increased by 10% year-on-year in real terms in January, with turnover in domestic retail outlets increasing by 1% and foreign retail sales by 84%.
- Landsvirkjun published financial results for 2021.
The week ahead
- On Wednesday, the CBI will release the minutes of the last meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee.
- On Friday, Statistics Iceland releases CPI numbers for February. We expect a 0.8% increase between months and inflation to increase from 5.7% to 5.8%.

The housing price and rental price indexes decreased more between months in September and household payment card turnover contracted between years domestically while rising abroad. The Central Bank of Iceland (CBI) published the minutes of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, which shows that all Committee members agreed to lower the policy rate. Several companies publish financial results this week.
