In early November, Landsbankinn launched its first ever online game, designed to heighten awareness of and knowledge about cybersecurity. By using an interactive media such as the game form, players were made active participants in their own security.
The game is in the form of a quiz were participants need to actively determine the difference between fact and fake, and phishing/smishing and real messages. They sort images, throw messages from scammers in the trash and answer questions about good cybersecurity etiquette. Open to everyone interested, the game was published to the Bank's website. Savvy participants, who completed a majority of the tasks correctly, were eligible to win 25,000 Aukakrónur.
Participation was beyond expectation, with over 25,500 sessions logged in just under a month and almost 14,000 eligible winners registered. The lucky winners were drawn out yesterday and three budding cybersecurity experts will receive their Aukakrónur from the Bank. Congratulations to the winners and a huge thank you to all participants!
While there’s no longer any prize on offer, the game is still online and a good way to hone your scam detection - and Icelandic - skills. We recommend you try!
