Female artists at Landsbankinn: Guided tour of new exhibition on Reykjavík Culture Night

Listaverk kvenna í eigu Landsbankans
21 August 2025

To mark the occasion of the Women’s Year 2025, a new exhibition will open in Reykjastræti 6, showcasing pieces in the Bank’s collection by female artists. The exhibition opens on Reykjavík Culture Night (Menningarnótt) and, at the same time, the Landsbankinn’s gallery website will be updated to include special coverage of women artists.

Landsbankinn’s collection holds numerous pieces classified as national treasures, many of which are by women. In selecting pieces for the exhibition, an attempt was made to reflect artistic development in Iceland in the 20th century and to include pieces by women who have been influential in Icelandic art history, each in their own way. The exhibition features paintings, textile and graphic art, as well as ceramics by 23 women. The exhibition is curated by Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir, visual artist.

Guided tour of the exhibition at 12:00, 13:00 or 14:00

The exhibition opens at 12:00 on Reykjavík Culture Night, 23 August 2025. Curator Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir offers guided tours of the exhibition at 12, 13 og 14:00.

Guests are also offered a tour of the Landsbankinn building to view other artwork presented on its walls. Note that availability is limited and registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.

The exhibition is housed on the ground floor of Landsbankinn, Reykjastræti 6, and is open all weekdays between 9-17:00 throughout 2025.
