New Savings Account in Polish Currency

18 February 2025

We now offer a savings account in Polish currency, the zloty (PLN). This marks the first time an Icelandic bank has provided a foreign currency account in zloty.

This is a foreign currency savings account, with three available fixed-term deposit options:

  • Non-fixed: The balance is always available for withdrawal.
  • 3-months fixed term: Each deposit is locked for 3 months from the deposit date. Once released, it remains available for one month before being fixed again for another 3 months.
  • 6-month fixed term: Each deposit is locked for 6 months from the deposit date. Once released, it remains available for one month before being fixed again for another 6 months.

Funds can be transferred directly from a PLN-denominated currency account to other foreign accounts in the same currency. This eliminates the need to time transfers based on payment system operating hours, unlike when transferring funds from an Icelandic ISK account to a Polish bank account in zloty.

Landsbankinn has offered Polish-speaking customers service in their native language for several years, with a Polish-language interface in online banking and Landsbankinn’s app. The Bank’s website has a dedicated Polish site, landsbankinn.pl, and we have hosted financial educational sessions in Polish, led by Polish-speaking employees of the Bank.
