Eventful Reykjavík Culture Night in Reykjastræti and Austurstræti

Menningarnótt
15 August 2023

Landsbankinn is one of the main backers of Reykjavík Culture Night and we actively take part in the festivities.

This year, we are happy to welcome visitors to the Bank’s new headquarters at Reykjastræti 6 and to enjoy a new exhibition of artwork from the Bank’s collection in Austurstræti 11.

Fun for the kids and a concert

There will be lots of excitement in Reykjastræti where we’ll host an event for kids, an all-male choir sings popular songs and Diljá entertains the crowd.

Programme:

  • 15:00 - The kids’ favourite songs. Sylvía Erla and Árni Benedikt have created song and dance episodes for Sjónvarp Símans Premium that feature talented children. They’ll get the kids to dance and sing along in the Bank on Culture Night as well.
  • 16:00 - Male choir Esja celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year. The choir will not only sing in the Bank but also as the participants in the 10 km Reykjavík marathon run the Ægissíða stretch.
  • 17:00 – Diljá Pétursdóttir became an instant sensation when she won the Eurovision qualification contest in Iceland and then went on to do us proud in Liverpool.

Art exhibition in Austurstræti

A new exhibition of art from Landsbankinn's collection will be opened in the event of Reykjavík Culture Night in the Bank’s branch at Austurstræti 11.

  • On Culture Night, the exhibition will be open from 11:00-17:00 and subsequently during opening hours.

The exhibition is titled Hringrás (e. Cyclical) and is curated by Daría Sól Andrews. The exhibition explores a cycle of influence and inspiration through various media and across generations of artists. The works chosen reflect a focus on select artistic movements, namely abstract and geometric-abstract art, figurative and representational art, graphic art including etching and drawing, and surrealism. Hringrás provides a glimpse into the diversity and breadth of Landsbankinn's collection, across medium and context.

The exhibition will be open until the branch at Austurstræti 11 closes and moves to the Bank’s new headquarters at Reykjastræti 6, currently scheduled to take place in September.

Guided tour of Reykjastræti 6

Halldóra Vífilsdóttir, architect and project management of the construction of Landsbankinn’s new headquarters, guides visitors in four scheduled tours of Reykjastræti 6. The tours were advertised on the Bank’s Facebook page and are all fully booked.

Even tighter security in Landsbankinn’s app
We have now added settings to Landsbankinn’s app that further enhance security in card transactions and banking. These settings allow you to easily deactivate certain payment card functions in the app and to reactivate them just as easily at your convenience. If necessary, you can activate emergency closure that suspends the function of all of your cards and shuts down access to the app and online banking.

Landsbankinn’s customers can use the Auðkenni app to log in and to authenticate in online banking and the app. Before long, it will also be possible to use the Auðkenni app for valid electronic signatures. This is particularly useful where there is an Internet connection but no phone connection, and for those who have non-Icelandic phone numbers.
