Strong customer authentication (SCA) requires that you use two out of three means of verification to confirm payment to ensure that you are in fact the registered user:
- What you are - such as a fingerprint or face ID.
- What you know - such as a password or PIN.
- What you have - such as a phone.
Two of these three requirements can easily be met with the use of a smart device, i.e. fingerprint or face ID on the one hand and what you have on the other, e.g. the device itself. Electronic ID on the phone comes in very handy here.
